06/16/2025

UPDATE: Due to a theater performance at North High School, the training exercise scheduled for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, will take place at Washington Elementary School at 1725 Broadway N.

During the Aug. 6 training exercise, the Washington Elementary School building and playground will be closed.

The Fargo Fire Department and The Fargo Police Department, along with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, West Fargo Fire Department, Moorhead Fire Department, Red River Regional Dispatch Center, Sanford Ambulance, Simulation In Motion-North Dakota (SIM-ND), Fargo Emergency Management, West Fargo Emergency Management and Cass County Emergency Management will conduct training exercises on three Wednesdays this summer: June 18, July 9 and August 6.

On each date, training simulations are scheduled to take place several times throughout the day between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Fargo North High School (801 17th Ave. N.) to provide multiple opportunities for public safety professionals to attend. This annual training event has been discussed and planned for several months; it is not in response to any threats, intelligence or heightened security concerns. During the training exercises, summer school and activities will continue at North High and the Northside Pool will not be impacted.

The exercises are designed to be a realistic scenario to practice security, sheltering and evacuation plans. Team members may be seen carrying firearms and moving around the exterior of the building. The public can expect to hear loud noises and yelling. Additionally, there will be emergency response vehicles in the area with activated emergency lights. Several vehicles will be in the northeast parking lot of Fargo North High School. There is no safety concern to the public or surrounding area.

Public safety services will continue to be offered during this training exercise, and residents should continue to report emergencies by dialing 9-1-1.
