As part of the “Color Our World” Summer Reading Challenge, the Fargo Public Library is hosting several art-related events. Two of those events are set for Saturday, June 14; one is for teens, and one is for all ages.

First, teens are invited to learn the Japanese art of Suminagashi on Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at the downtown Main Library. Artist Mika Usuki from the Plains Art Museum will teach the class and teens will create their own marbling designs on paper using this traditional method of suspending ink in water. This event is for teens ages 12 to 18. Pre-registration is required and can be done online at fargolibrary.org/teens. Contact Allison at 701.241.1492 for details.

Artists of all ages are invited to be a part of the Fargo Public Library’s Tiny Art Show this summer. To participate, residents can attend a workshop to create a painting on Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at the Dr. James Carlson Library, 2801 32nd Ave. S. This session is open to all ages and registration is not required. One canvas per person, while supplies last. For details, contact the Children’s Services Department at 701.241.1495. For those unable to attend the session, participants can pick up a mini canvas at any library location to paint at home beginning June 14, while supplies last. Participants in the Tiny Art Show are asked to return their painted canvases to one of the library locations by Saturday, June 28. Finished paintings will be on display at all three library locations in July.

Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public; adults must accompany children ages 9 and younger.
