Join us to learn about the exhibit and architecture of Denby Deegan, Surrounded by Enemy, and the NDSU Institute for Regional Studies.
Deegan (1941-2018), Surrounded by Enemy, was a member of North Dakota’s Three Affiliated Tribes, and in 1965, Deegan earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from North Dakota State University. In 2021, NDSU Archives accepted Deegan's collection for long- term preservation. The exhibit showcases just a few of his projects in North Dakota. Each project reflects his dedication to celebrating Native American heritage.

The NDSU Archives is comprised of two collecting areas, the Institute for Regional Studies Archives and the University Archives. Founded in 1950, the Institute for Regional Studies Archives actively seeks out collections in all formats that enhance its holdings on the history of North Dakota and the Red River Valley. The University Archives focuses on non-current records generated by university units as well as of the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and NDSU Extension. Both areas support the research needs of undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and other scholars at NDSU and beyond.

"The Architecture of Denby Deegan" exhibit will be at the Main Library throughout the month of November.

This year, North Dakota State University and the Fargo Public Library are partnering for a speaker series highlighting topics of interest to teens and adults. No registration is required and all materials will be provided. Contact Lori at lwest@fargolibrary.org for details.
