September is National Preparedness Month and Pedro is a penguin who loves learning about how he can be prepared and take action during an emergency to help stay safe. "Prepare with Pedro" is a 30- to 45-minute youth preparedness education program that teaches kids in a fun and educational way, how to BE PREPARED and TAKE ACTION for either home fires or a local hazard. Specially-trained American Red Cross employees and volunteers introduce Pedro with a story, and facilitate activities designed to help kids learn basic preparedness concepts, including how to remain calm in stressful situations. These sessions will focus on fire safety. All ages are welcome, but content is geared towards kids ages 5 to 8. Preregistration is required and opens August 22.
