25th Street S Reconstruction & Railroad Crossing
Zone: SouthWhat zone am I?
Completed
Start: July 5, 2017
Estimated Completion: August 2017
Project Overview:
This project will replace deteriorating pavement, sidewalks and the surface of a railroad crossing on 25th Street S, between Main Avenue and 2nd Avenue S. The complete reconstruction project will not impact traffic on Main Avenue; all work is south of the Main Avenue/25th Street intersection.
Main Ave. was reconstructed in 2004 and 25th Street south of 2nd Avenue was reconstructed in 1996, but the stretch between Main and 2nd St. S has not been updated since its construction in 1982.
Impacts:
All lanes through this stretch of 25th Street S are closed and traffic is detoured west around the work zone.
Timeline:
Construction began July 5th. All work should be completed by fall.
Funding:
The estimated cost for this project is $800,000 and will be paid for by:
- Special Assessments
- Federal Highway Funds
Because 25th Street is classified as an arterial roadway, it has a special assessment district including properties that fall within its boundaries. These properties are located between Main Avenue and 5th Avenue S and from 21st Street to I-29. Fargoparcels.com is a good resource to view the current estimates for your property. Special assessments are payable over 25 years with interest and applied the year after the project is complete.
