42nd Street South & I-94 Bridge Rehabilitation

Current Status (Updated 6/6/2024):

This project is currently scheduled to start Monday, June 10, 2024.

Project Overview:

Construction activities include bridges deck repair, deck sealing treatments, bridge expansion joint modifications, bridge substructure repairs, barrier improvements, and pedestrian improvements.

Impacts:

The safe and efficient completion of this project requires a full closure of the 42nd Avenue South bridge spanning Interstate 94. The detour route will be clearly marked.

Contractor:

PCI Roads LLC

Timeline:

It is anticipated that construction will begin in June of 2024 with the bridge reopening in the fall.

Funding:

The project will be funded by a combination of City Funds (Infrastructure Sales Tax), Federal Funds, and State Funds.

Purpose:

This project is needed to maintain and repair items identified during the most recent inspection of the bridge. The performed maintenance and repairs will increase the service years of the bridge and provide for continued safe use.
