Zone: North
Project: 19th Avenue N

Beginning next week, contractors for the City of Fargo’s 19th Avenue North road reconstruction project between 45th Street North to 57th Street North will end the winter suspension and resume the final area of slated roadway reconstruction and underground utility project work for the corridor.

Starting Tuesday, April 30 at 8 a.m., crews will close the remaining half mile of 19th Avenue North from the east edge of the Horse Park to just east of the 57th St N and 19th Ave S N intersection to thru traffic. Access to businesses on the west end of the work zone will be maintained by temporary access roads.

To finish the reconstruction and infrastructure improvement project, crews will work to complete roadway removals, underground utility upgrades and concrete paving. Project work is anticipated to be complete by mid- July.

As a reminder, the 45th St S and 19th Ave S intersection is an all-way stop. The new 45th St N intersection moved to the north with the new road alignment of 19th Ave N and was completed in September 2018. The existing intersection has been removed and railroad crossing has been updated to prepare the area for a future underpass.

Two adjacent projects were designed to build an urbanized 19th Ave N roadway section from I-29 to 45th St N, including 45th St N intersection reconstruction from 16th Avenue North to 19th Ave N, and from west of 45th St N to 57th St N. The project work was slated to be complete over two-years to accommodate increased traffic volumes and anticipated population growth in north Fargo. In July, the east portion of the new 19th Avenue North roadway alignment opened with the east portion completed in fall 2017.
