Zone: North
Project: 19th Avenue N Road Construction Projects
The second roadway construction project impacting traffic on 19th Avenue N this summer is set to begin on Tuesday, September 5, weather permitting. Crews are progressing west from the first project work zone and will begin roadway removals and installation of new underground utility from west of 45th Street N to 57th Street N on 19th Avenue N.
The existing portion of 19th Avenue N will be closed to all traffic between the furthest east driveway of the North Dakota Horse Park to the east Intersection of Northern Sheyenne Loop. Access to area businesses and the corridor will either be from 45th Street N or 57th Street N. Detour routes for drivers also includes use of 12th Avenue N via I-29. Contractors will continue to maintain access for all local traffic to use 19th Avenue N to get in-and-out of the area.
Northbound traffic on 45th Street N are able to turn east at 19th Avenue N intersection for access until 43rd Street N. Access to 19th Avenue N between 41st Street N to I-29 is from the interstate interchange.
The short-term closure north on 45th Street N between 19th Avenue N and 32nd Avenue N will remain in place through the end of next week. Crews are continuing underground utility improvements associated with the 19th Avenue N road construction projects in this stretch. Local traffic affected by the short-terms closure can access I-29 via Cass County Road 20.
In the next two weeks, all of the underground utilities and paving operations for the new roadway between 41st Street N to 43rd Street N will be complete. The roadway between 41 Street N and 43rd Street N is anticipated to reopen at the end of September and the active work zone will shift to the last portion of the first project between 43rd Street N and 45th Street N intersection.
These improvement projects are creating a completely new roadway along 19th Avenue with added lanes, new concrete, a flush median, updated utilities and street lights to accommodate for increasing traffic volumes and anticipated population growth in North Fargo. Both projects include a new sanitary sewer interceptor main with an overflow structure to help the area’s sewer network, and updated railroad crossings at 19th Avenue N and 45th Street N to prepare for a possible future underpass.
Speeds are reduced in the work zone so drivers are reminded to slow down, eliminate distractions and pay attention to signage, as crews may be working near traffic.
