Zone: Downtown
Project: 2nd Avenue N Reconstruction: Roberts Alley to 7th St.

FARGO, N.D. (July 11, 2017) – Contractors for the City of Fargo’s 2nd Avenue N Reconstruction and Water Main Replacement Project are progressing on the east end of the work zone and will be closing the intersection of 2nd Ave. N and Roberts Street starting tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 11.

This temporary closure should last approximately 3 months, weather permitting, and is necessary while crews begin pavement removals, underground utility improvements and roadway reconstruction through the intersection. During this time, access to the Roberts Commons parking ramp is maintained from the north via Roberts St.

On Wednesday, the traffic pattern for this project will be:

  • 2nd Ave. N: CLOSED from the Roberts alley through the Roberts St. intersection, traffic detoured around the work zone via 1st Avenue N
  • Roberts Alley: CLOSED for approximately 3 more weeks, businesses should schedule deliveries via Broadway or coordinate them during early morning hours
  • Roberts St. Intersection: CLOSED to traffic in all directions

Street parking is currently reduced but sidewalks are maintained on the south side of 2nd Ave. N, providing access to local businesses and the post office throughout the whole project. Phase two of the project, impacting 2nd Ave. N from the Roberts St. intersection to 7th Street N, will begin as contractors complete more work on the east side of the project. At times, 2nd Ave. N will be closed from Roberts Alley to 7th St. N. Both phases of the project are scheduled to be completed by late October.

**Please remember all schedules are tentative and weather dependent.
