Zone: North
Project: 19th Avenue N
FARGO, N.D. (June 29, 2017) – Contractors for the City of Fargo are making progress on the 19th Avenue N new road construction project, already completing the first portion of removals and pavement work between 43rd Street N and 45th Street N. After the morning commute on Friday, June 30, they will reopen this stretch and move into the second phase of project work, closing 19th Ave. N from I-29 to 41st Street N. The road remains open for local traffic only, but these drivers must access 19th Ave. N from 45th St. N. All thru traffic is detoured to 12th Avenue N via I-29, then to 45th St.
This is the first of two adjacent projects scheduled for 19th Ave. N this season. Both projects will construct a completely new, urban arterial road west of Interstate 29 (I-29) to 57th Street N. The five-lane roadway along 19th Ave. N will have added lanes, new concrete, a flush median, updated utilities and street lights to accommodate for increasing traffic volumes in North Fargo.
The current project impacts 19th Ave. N between I-29 and 45th St., including 45th St. N from 16th Avenue to 19th Ave. The second project is scheduled to begin in August, weather permitting, and will impact 19th Ave. N west of 45th St. to 57th Street N.
Speeds are reduced in the work zone so drivers are reminded to slow down, eliminate distractions and pay attention to signage, as crews may be working near traffic.
