Clay Dietrich called the meeting to order at 9:30am.

Kevin Bartram made a motion to approve the minutes from August 6, 2026, seconded by Tony Wolf. No one was in opposition and the motion was declared carried.

New Business
a. Appeal: Lee Dobrinza/Kevin and Kari Hanson at 214 Broadway

Shawn Ouradnik shared the city’s standpoint regarding the appeal. His recommendation is to uphold the determination made by the Building Official, to classify this as an A-2 Assembly occupancy, and to use the calculated occupant load applicable to the space.

Lee Dobrinza with JLG Architects presented his appeal. They are requesting the new space be classified as an A-3 Occupancy and that the total occupant load of the event space would be capped/posted at under 100 occupants per the owner’s intended use of the space.

There was some discussion between the board and both parties.

Kevin made a motion that the Building Official erred in his interpretation of the code and the space be classified as an A-3 based on the presentation of how the space will be used, seconded by David Vig. No one was in opposition and the motion was declared carried.

Announcements
Shawn shared that new code books will be released in 2027. The review process will be slowed somewhat to ensure all updates are carefully evaluated, with code adoption expected to occur in 2028.

Clay Dietrich called for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mark Lundberg motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Justin Schoenberg. No one was in opposition and the motion was declared carried.

Meeting adjourned at 10:15am.
