As part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, the Fargo Public Library, in partnership with the Dacotah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the American Battlefield Trust and Bonanzaville, will host “The American Revolution Experience” traveling exhibit Aug. 10-17 at the downtown Main Library. Residents of all ages are invited to take in this innovative pop-up exhibition which includes display panels and interactive digital kiosks that use storytelling, illustration, technology, unique artifacts and primary accounts to connect modern audiences with the people and places that shaped the birth of our nation. The exhibit will be on display in the library’s first floor gallery space during regular library hours.
Additionally, a themed, open house-style event for kids featuring stories, crafts and hands-on activities is scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Main Library. Presented by members of DAR’s Dacotah Chapter, the event is free and no registration is required. This innovative Revolutionary War exhibit is a collaborative project of the American Battlefield Trust and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The traveling exhibit includes 12 panels highlighting thematic connections between profiled individuals and three interactive kiosks that connect to the full digital biographies, provide documentary context on the Revolutionary War and offer information on how to visit the places tied to these individuals today. Both online and on-site, the American Revolution Experience features custom illustrations by South Carolina-based artist Dale Watson. The exhibit also draws from documents and objects in DAR’s collection, as well as the Trust’s industry-leading digital interpretation resources. The exhibit is also made possible by generous matching funds from the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program battlefield interpretation grants.
This exhibit and related event are part of the Fargo Public Library’s free 2026 Summer Reading Challenge that runs through August 15. This all-ages program offers a summer filled with stories, weekly special events, performances and activities for kids, teens and adults. Anyone can participate by reading, attending events and completing challenges.
