Mayoral Proclamation - Historic Preservation Week 09.09.26

The City of Fargo recognizes it's citizens for demonstrating a steadfast commitment to maintaining the integrity of our historic districts for the education and enjoyment of future generations.

WHEREAS, The City of Fargo is defined by its unique architectural heritage, ranging from the iconic landmarks of our historic downtown to the enduring character of stoned residential neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, Historic preservation is a proven catalyst for economic development, driving revitalization, supporting local small businesses and fostering a deep sense of community identity and pride; and

WHEREAS, The year 2026 marks the inaugural Downtown Historic Building Walking Tour, a new initiative designed to showcase the success of commercial adaptive reuse in sites such as the Black Building and the Ford Building, as well as the historic presevation of landmarks such as the Fargo Theatre and the Great Northern Depot; and

WHEREAS, The citizens of Fargo demonstrate a steadfast commitment to maintaining the integrity of our historic districts for the education and enjoyment of future generations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Josh Boschee, Mayor of The City of Fargo, North Dakota, do hereby proclaim September 9-15, 2026 to be

HISTORIC PRESERVATION WEEK

in The City of Fargo and I encourage all citizens and visitors to honor our City's vibrant history by participating in community tours and educational programming and supporting the diligent stewardship of our shared architectural legacy.
