The Fargo Police Department Investigates Delayed Report of a Shooting Incident

One adult male treated for a non-life-threatening injury at local medical facility

Update: On Saturday, January 24, at 8:02 p.m., after serving a search warrant in the 1500 block of 10th Street North, investigators established probable cause to arrest 50 year-old Fargo resident Odus Maxwell for Aggravated Assault. Maxwell was present at the time of the search warrant. He was subsequently arrested without incident and transported to Cass County Jail. This investigation remains ongoing and no further information is available at this time.

On Saturday, January 24, at 11:03 a.m., Fargo Police Officers responded to a local medical facility for an adult male that had arrived with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim stated that when he was leaving a residence in North Fargo, he heard a "pop" and realized he had been shot. The victim stated he informed a passerby that he had been shot and was transported to the hospital. The victim did not provide any further information regarding other individuals involved or the exact location of the shooting.

The Fargo Police Department was also contacted by a witness who claimed to be at the scene. From this witness, officers learned the shooting resulted from an altercation inside a residence and that the victim and suspect were known to each other. The suspect was described as an adult black male, approximately 5' 8" with a muscular build.

At this time, members of the Fargo Police Criminal Investigations and Neighborhood Services Divisions are serving a search warrant at a residence in the 1500 block of 10th Street North where the shooting is believed to have taken place.

The victim was treated for a non-life-threatening injury at a local medical facility.

No arrests have been made at this time. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
