The City of Fargo to Celebrate Grand Opening of New Parking Garage

NP Garage adds 480 new parking spaces for residents and visitors to Downtown Fargo

11/13/2025

The City of Fargo, along with Kilbourne Group, the Downtown Community Partnership and other project collaborators, will hold a grand opening ceremony for the new NP Parking Garage at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 14. The event will take place on the ground floor of the parking garage, located at 602 NP Ave. Community and business leaders will share remarks, followed by guided tours of the facility, which offers elevated views of Downtown Fargo.

The NP Parking Garage features 480 parking spaces, making it the largest City-owned parking facility in Downtown Fargo. Parking is free after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, with hourly rates during business hours. Reserved parking is also available for $115 per month.

Wrapping around the parking garage will be a mixed-use development that includes the future home of the Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre, 168 new apartments and 2,440 square feet of commercial space. While the parking garage construction is now complete, the surrounding development is on track for completion in 2026.

For more than 50 years, this prime downtown site served as a surface parking lot. Now, it’s being transformed into a thriving multi-use space that will contribute to Fargo’s tax base and economic vitality for generations to come. This project showcases how strategic downtown investment can turn underutilized land into a dynamic community asset.

“The NP Parking Garage and the overall project reflect years of collaboration and a shared vision for Downtown Fargo’s future,” said Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney. “By expanding parking options and improving access to our city center, we’re making it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy everything Downtown has to offer.”

“This project is a powerful example of how Downtown Fargo continues to evolve,” said Sami Harwood, Director of Marketing for Kilbourne Group. “What was once a simple parking lot will now serve as a cornerstone of economic growth that adds housing, arts and commercial opportunities to our community.”

Attendees are invited to celebrate this exciting milestone in Downtown Fargo’s ongoing renewal and reinvestment.
