08/09/2025

On Saturday, August 9, at approximately 12:10 a.m., The Fargo Police Department (FPD) responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 10th Street North and 6th Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began life-saving efforts at the scene, and the male was taken by ambulance to a local medical facility for treatment. The victim remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Detectives are following all leads as The Fargo Police Department continues to actively investigate this case. The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect and victim were involved in a physical altercation prior to the shooting. The FPD can confirm this shooting is not related to the violence that occurred in downtown Fargo in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 3.

In this morning’s incident, the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers quickly canvassed the area, utilizing a K-9 and a drone to search for the suspect, with the assistance of the West Fargo Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. At this time, the suspect has not been located. He is described as a scruffy-looking white male wearing a red shirt. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the FPD at 701.241.5777. Anonymous tips can be submitted by texting keyword FARGOPD and the tip to 847411.

The Fargo Police Department wants residents and visitors to know there are no public safety concerns with the events scheduled for today in Downtown Fargo, including the Red River Market and 2025 Pride events. The FPD had already planned to have extra staffing Downtown for the events, along with the operation of the department’s Real-Time Crime Center.
