The Fargo Public Library will host a presentation by author Francis Gary Powers Jr., writer of the 2019 book Spy Pilot: Francis Gary Powers, the U-2 Incident, and a Controversial Cold War Legacy on Tuesday, July 29, at 1 p.m. at the downtown Main Library. The book describes what it was like to grow up in the shadow of his father, Francis Gary Powers Sr., a CIA pilot and famous Cold War figure. Learn how Powers Jr. sought the truth after his father’s death in 1977, and how that research led to the United States Air Force and the CIA posthumously awarding his father the Prisoner of War Medal, Director’s Award and Silver Star.
