Mayor's Advisory Council on Rental Housing
Mayor Josh Boschee created the Mayor's Advisory Council on Rental Housing to find practical, Fargo-specific ways to make rental housing more stable, safe, affordable and well-kept, while supporting a healthy rental market. The council brings together renters, landlords and property managers, community organizations and City staff, and renters hold most of the seats. It meets monthly in public for about six months, starting in November 2026. Its early work covers tenant-landlord relationships and reducing evictions, rental inspections and housing quality, and whether Fargo should have a rental registry. At the end, the council will give the Mayor and City Commission a final report with specific, measurable recommendations and a timeline for putting them in place.
The Mayor's Advisory Council on Rental Housing is led by co-chairs, John Strand and Josh Hoper. Please click here for a full list of current council members.
