On Tuesday, May 14, at 11:52 a.m., the Fargo Fire Department was dispatched to 2602 18th St. S. for a report of a vehicle fire. As the emergency dispatcher gathered more information and learned the vehicle was in a garage, the call was upgraded to a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire coming from one stall in a row of eight single-stall apartment garages. Multiple adjoining garages had significant amounts of smoke coming through the closed garage doors.
Crews quickly knocked down the vehicle fire and the fire that had spread to the adjoining stalls. In the stall where the fire originated, one vehicle was destroyed. A second vehicle in an adjoining stall was heavily damaged. A third stall contained personal items that were also heavily damaged.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire. Damage estimates are not yet available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Fargo Fire Department responded with four fire engines, one ladder truck, two command vehicles and one fire investigation unit. Fire crews were assisted on scene by Fargo Police Department officers and Sanford Ambulance crews.
