WHEREAS, The #Play4MDA initiative is a non-profit started by three DECA students from Davies High School, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Association; and

WHEREAS, The #Play4MDA initiative works to support people in the Fargo community suffering from numerous types of muscle diseases, while also encouraging people to become active and live healthy lifestyles for someone who can’t; and
-
WHEREAS, Muscular diseases such as ALS, MS and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy affect hundreds of people in our community and state; and
-
WHEREAS, Lack of exercise and physical activity can result in serious health and wellness problems; and
-
WHEREAS, Our community can work together to inspire physical activity and good health habits, while also raising awareness for those suffering from muscle diseases supported by the Muscular Dystrophy Association all to better the overall wellness of our community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim February 22, 2018 as Day to #Play4MDA in the City of Fargo, North Dakota.
