The Fargo Fire Department responded at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, February 27, to a report of black smoke coming from a unit at an apartment building located at 1204 44th Street South. Fire crews arrived to find smoke in the hallway and fire within one apartment unit.
All residents were out of the unit prior to the arrival of fire crews; no injuries were reported. A second alarm was called to bring in additional resources, and crews extinguished the fire.
The Fargo Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck and two battalion chiefs. The Fargo Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Sanford Ambulance and the Fargo Police Department who closed a section of 44th Street South for a brief period.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and a cost estimate of the damage is not yet available.
