Fargo Public Library to Host Fargo ScanDay with North Dakota State Library

Interested in preserving family history, such as vintage photos, family recipes or letters from WWII? Fargo ScanDay is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 28, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Dr. James Carlson Library, 2801 32nd Ave. S. Area residents are invited to bring 10 to 15 family personal documents, photos or objects to be scanned and then displayed online on Digital Horizons through the North Dakota State Library. All participants will be provided flash drives with digital copies of their items. Space is limited; pre-registration is required. Register online or contact the Dr. James Carlson Library Information Desk at 701.476.5980.

ScanDay is an event hosted with libraries across the state in which staff from the North Dakota State Library bring scanning and photography equipment to a community and digitize photographs, documents, objects, etc., from the personal collections of residents. After scanning, participants keep their original items, and participants receive digital copies on a flash drive, and the items are also displayed online at Digital Horizons for research and education. Fargo ScanDay is sponsored by the Fargo Public Library and the North Dakota State Library.
