World AIDS Day is December 1 and is an opportunity for people to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV and remember those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. The Fargo Cass Public Health Clinic offers free and confidential HIV counseling and testing, as well as medication to help prevent HIV transmission.

The December session of Watercolor for Beginners is December 1 at 6 p.m. at the Northport Library. This workshop is recommended for adults and teens and all supplies will be provided. New or handmade hats, mittens and scarves of any size can be dropped off at the Main Library for the Library’s Mitten Tree. The donated items will be provided to members of the community.

Demolition has begun on an old warehouse at 419 4th Street North the City sold for redevelopment. An adjacent building is also being demolished and construction will soon begin on a 114-unit apartment project. The new housing project implements the Riverfront Development and the Infocus Downtown plans.

Hundreds of people gathered on November 22 at Broadway Square with The City of Fargo, Fargo Park District and McGough Construction to celebrate the lighting of the 32-foot-tall holiday tree and the opening of the Scheels Skating Rink. Entertainment for the festivities included live music by the NDSU Performing Arts BisonArts singers, visits with real reindeer and carriage rides coordinated by the Jasper Hotel.
