The Mayor's Message - 08.08.2022

From Fargo Cass Public Health, August is National Immunization Awareness Month to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. It is also an important reminder to catch up on routine visits and vaccinations that may have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fargo Cass Public Health will hold back-to-school immunization clinics from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 17 and 18 where all recommended child and teen immunizations will be available.

At the Fargo Public Library, Diverse Perspectives Book Club meets at the Main Library on August 11 and the featured title is “From the Ashes: My Story of Being Metis, Homeless and Finding My Way” by Jesse Thistle. Beginner Yoga sessions for adults are Thursday evenings through August at the Carlson Library. Librarians will attend the Native American Community Picnic August 20 at MB Johnson Park. The “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Challenge continues through August 20.

Earlier this morning, we celebrated the graduation of 22 people comprising Class III of the Fargo Police Academy. After a challenging 12-week program, they successfully completed their training and we’re very proud of their accomplishments.

Of those graduates, we swore in 15 this morning as Fargo’s newest police officers. They are in attendance tonight and I'm so proud to welcome them as FPD Officers. Logan, Tanner, Brandon, Latasha, Drew, Elliot, Richard, Fotinos, Shelby, Johnny, Evan, Christopher, Dylan, Paul and David, welcome to Team Fargo. We're so glad you're beginning your careers in public service to our community’s residents and visitors.
