The City of Fargo Requests Proposals for Artwork to be Displayed on the Exterior of City Hall

Proposals must be submitted by Monday, June 20 and convey the theme “Fargo: Past, Present and Future”

05/21/2022

The City of Fargo’s Arts and Culture Commission (ACC) is requesting proposals for new artwork for the panels located on the exterior facade of City Hall’s Commission Chambers, located at 225 4th St. N. The request seeks one to three local artists, culture bearers and other creatives to create artwork for the panels based on the theme “Fargo: Past, Present and Future.”

The City of Fargo first installed art on the building’s east section in 2018. The art panels are located on the northeast, east and southeast sides of the building’s exterior of the Commission Chambers. Each of the three sides has four vertical panels designed to incorporate artwork, for a total of twelve panels. The selected art will be translated to vinyl, which will be installed within each panel section.

Artists may propose work for a single wall or all three walls. All proposals must present a cohesive artistic vision and reflect the theme. Artists must be 18 years old and reside, work or be a student within the Fargo area. The proposals may be from established or emerging artists, and students enrolled in an arts program at a college or university level.

A copy of the Request for Proposals may be obtained online at FargoND.gov/work/bids-rfqs-rfps or by calling the Department of Planning and Development at 701.241.1474. Proposals must be submitted no later than 4 p.m., on Monday, June 20, 2022. The City anticipates a selection will be made by the end of June and the work installed no later than July 30.

The Fargo Arts and Culture Commission (ACC) was established in 2015 and is committed to highlight and expand culture and arts in collaboration with citizens, artists, culture-bearers, organizers, business partners and city leaders. The ACC has embraced the goal of positioning Fargo to become an art and culture hub through the execution of the ACC Public Art Master Plan to transform neighborhoods, parks and business areas into meaningful spaces for citizens.
