The Inspections Department code adoption process will soon be completed with the effective date for the codes the first part of 2022. The Department has also added a code enforcement inspector to its team and that new person will start employment with the City in late November or early December.

November is National Model Railroad Month and the Red River Modules Model Railroad Club will be at the Main Library to display and demonstrate model trains on November 20th and 21st. All ages are welcome and no pre-registration is required.

The Fargo Public Library offers readers’ advisory services for kids, teens and adults. Kids and their caregivers can request reading recommendations through the What’s Next? Personalized Reading Recommendations for Kids service. Adults and teens can request reading recommendations through the May We Suggest service. The children’s librarians also handle curriculum requests by teachers or caregivers with the What’s Next? service.

The apartment vacancy rate for June 2021 in Fargo decreased to 4.4 percent, down from 6.6 percent in 2020, 8.45 percent in 2019 and 8.96 percent in 2018. The vacancy rate Downtown is 11 percent and it is 7 percent in north Fargo. There are currently 1,091 apartment units under construction, including 659 in southwest Fargo and 432 Downtown.

Beyond Shelter has received funding from the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency for its proposed The Plaza Phase 1 and Phase 2 affordable senior housing projects, which will provide 88 affordable senior homes on the Kmart site on South University Drive. Beyond Shelter thanked the City of Fargo for the PILOT approved by the City Commission for the projects, which played a key role in the successful funding awards.

The Fargo Police Department celebrated the promotions of four lieutenants and five sergeants earlier today. We congratulate Lieutenants Shane, Mike B., Mike S. and Matt and Sergeants Travis, Aldin, Jennifer, Lucas and Mike A.

The Fargo Police Department is accepting applications for the 2022 Fargo Police Academy through December 6th. The Academy provides an exceptional opportunity for those interested in a career in law enforcement to receive state of the art training at no cost to the recruit. It also provides the Police Department with the advantage of immersing potential recruits in the culture and philosophy of the Department prior to entering the Field Training Program. The Comms GA Team has produced an impactful recruitment video for the FPD.
