Since the start of the school year, the Fargo Police Department has received 22 reports of school bus violations from school bus drivers. Of those 22 reports, 8 citations have been issued and 8 are still under investigation. The number of violations is likely much higher than what is reported.

The City of Fargo Municipal Code 8-1218(f)(g) states no driver of a motor vehicle shall pass a school bus while that school bus has activated flashing red lights, stop sign control arm, or safety strobe lights; and no driver of a motor vehicle shall proceed past a school bus in the oncoming lane while that school bus has activated flashing red lights, stop sign control arm, or safety strobe lights.

Please help keep our children safe and stop for school buses with activated red lights, stop sign arm or safety strobe lights.

A violation of this ordinance results in a $100 fine and 6 points off the driver's license. Read the municipal code.
