Early this morning, September 8, 2021, an officer on patrol near 72 Ave. S. and 28 St. S. noticed two individuals with flashlights inside a home that is under construction. The officer saw the two males exit the house and walk across the street and enter another home under construction. The officer called for additional units to assist by setting up a small perimeter, including a K9. Once the perimeter was set up, officers searched the area for the two males, locating one of the males running in a field. After a short foot pursuit, the male identified as Alexander S. Gruver, 21 years old of Moorhead, was detained. The second male, identified as Justin G. Keller, 22 years old of Moorhead, was detained a short time later. Through the officer’s investigation, Keller and Gruver were arrested for criminal trespass.

The department would like to remind the trade industry to help prevent theft from construction sites by locking up all tools, trailers and job sites when leaving (including lunch); identify all assets on the job site including serial numbers; mark tools with etching tools; and always report any theft or crimes that occur on the jobsite.

Often times, while our community sleeps, those with ill intentions are out lurking around looking for crimes of opportunity. Our night shift officers remain dedicated to providing preventative patrols in the area they cover in hopes of deterring these individuals from committing crime, and capturing those who intend to prey upon vulnerable areas of our community.
