City of Fargo Planning Commission Chair Earns Citizen Planner of the Year Award

The Western Planner Board, a committee comprised of experts from planning organizations

The Western Planner Board, a committee comprised of experts from planning organizations across 13 western states, has selected The City of Fargo Planning Commission Chair Rocky Schneider as the Citizen Planner of the Year for 2021.

“It is an honor to receive the Citizen Planner of the Year award and for the recognition of the incredible commitment Fargo has made to have a top-notch Planning Department.,” said award recipient Rocky Schneider.

The award recognizes a person who has distinguished themselves as a champion and leader of a project or program that embodies the principles of planning. The Board recognized Schneider’s skill at problem identification and solving, process development and implementation, and public outreach when selecting him.

“Rocky Schneider’s work as a member of the Planning Commission embodies what it means to be a volunteer servant. I am proud to see his tireless commitment to improving our community earning recognition on the national stage,” stated Fargo Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney.

In addition to volunteering as the chair of the Planning Commission, Schneider is a Senior Consultant for Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services (AE2S). The Board stated his combination of volunteer work and extensive professional experience helped distinguish Schneider from other nominees for the award.

“We are fortunate at The City of Fargo to have skilled professionals with diverse skillsets who are willing to share their talents for the betterment of our City. The work of Rocky, the Planning Commission, and our other boards, committees and commissions is crucial in ensuring we continue to offer the best services possible to our residents and continue to meet the community’s evolving needs,” said Fargo Director of Planning and Development Nicole Crutchfield.
