Mayoral Proclamation - Jason Moszer Day - February 11, 2021

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim February 11, 2021 to be Jason Moszer Day

  • WHEREAS, On November 30, 2009, Jason David Moszer began his career with the Fargo Police Department as a police officer. Officer Moszer was a Fargo native and served the community with pride; and

  • WHEREAS, On February 10, 2016, Officer Moszer responded with other Fargo officers to the area of 3rd Street and 9th Avenue North for a domestic disturbance involving an armed individual; and

  • WHEREAS, Officer Moszer took up a containment position in the rear alley area of the residence, working collectively with other Fargo officers to resolve a violent situation. During this time, the suspect fired several shots from the residence, one of which struck Officer Moszer, ultimately causing him to succumb to his injuries on February 11, 2016. The suspect was later shot by other officers; and

  • WHEREAS, Officer Moszer served the Fargo community honorably for six and a half years and as a result of his commitment to public safety made the ultimate sacrifice; and

  • WHEREAS, On the five-year anniversary of the death of Officer Moszer, it is appropriate and warranted to recognize his service and sacrifice; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim February 11, 2021 to be

JASON MOSZER DAY

in the City of Fargo, North Dakota.
