WHEREAS, June 26th, 2019 is the 100th anniversary of the founding and organization of the Dacotah Chapter of the North Dakota Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution that honors the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American independence, and promotes education, genealogy, history, historic preservation, patriotism and Americanism; and
WHEREAS, The Dacotah Chapter of the DAR was founded in June 1919 by Luella Davis Hildreth with a charter membership of 34 to complete this important service work on the local level; and
WHEREAS, Now 77 Dacotah daughters continue this fine tradition with the more than one million people who have served in this vibrant service organization’s mission to date, promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism; and
WHEREAS, Dacotah daughters have provided 7,786 hours of service to America in the FM area communities over the past three years, have welcomed New Americans, placed historical markers and donated countless hours of service to local veterans and students; and
WHEREAS, Dacotah Chapter proudly claims many members who were elected to serve as state regents as well as state and national officers; and
WHEREAS, Dacotah Chapter is recognized by Bonanzaville for their contributions to the restoration of the historical Houston House roof and has placed an engraved granite bench by the Houston House at Bonanzaville in honor of the momentous occasion of their 100th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Dacotah members are celebrating their founding and their future and will unveil their newly obtained charter document as a celebration of their history; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this vital organization and its memorable anniversary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim June 26, 2019 as
DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION DAY
in the City of Fargo, North Dakota in recognition of this vital organization and to celebrate 100 years of service to America.
