  • WHEREAS, 2019 marks Fargo‚Äôs 42nd year as a Tree City USA; and

  • WHEREAS, The 2019 Arbor Day celebration in the City of Fargo will be held on Friday, May 17th at 9:30 a.m. at Eagle Point II Park (1646 73rd Avenue South) where 100 new trees will be planted; and

  • WHEREAS, Trees and shrubs are a valuable resource in Fargo, protecting our soil, helping conserve moisture and energy, beautifying our homes and making Fargo a more inviting place to live and visit; and

  • WHEREAS, Vigorously growing trees and shrubs produce life sustaining oxygen, slow down forceful winds, break the monotony of endless sidewalks and miles of highways, soften the outline of the masonry, metal and glass cityscape and increase the value of property; and

  • WHEREAS, Disease and insects have damaged and threatened our trees, creating the need for the continuation of tree planting programs throughout the city; and

  • WHEREAS, On Arbor Day the people of Fargo commit themselves to the continued health of our City's inventory of trees.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, North Dakota, do hereby proclaim May 17, 2019 as


in the City of Fargo and urge all citizens to become more aware of the importance of our urban trees to the well-being of our City, and to demonstrate their concern for future generations by participating in tree planting programs.
