Mayoral Proclamation - Small Business Saturday - 11.24.2018

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim November 24, 2018, to be Small Business Saturday.

  • WHEREAS, The government of Fargo, North Dakota celebrates local small businesses and the contributions they make to our economy and community; and

  • WHEREAS, According to the US Small Business Administration, there are 30.2 million small businesses in the United States responsible for 65.9 percent of the net new jobs created from 2000 to 2017; and

  • WHEREAS, Small businesses employ more than 47.5 percent of the employees in the private sector in the United States; and

  • WHEREAS, 90 percent of consumers in the United States say Small Business Saturday has had a positive impact on their community and 89 percent of consumers who are aware of Small Business Saturday said the day encourages them to Shop Small all year long; and

  • WHEREAS, Fargo, North Dakota supports local businesses that create jobs, boost the local economy and preserve our neighborhoods; and

  • WHEREAS, Advocacy groups and public/private organizations across the country have endorsed the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim November 24, 2018, to be
    Small Business Saturday in the City of Fargo, North Dakota and urge residents to support small businesses and merchants on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.
