Mayoral Proclamation - Navy Week - 07.23.2018

We, Del Rae Williams, Mayor of Moorhead; Chad Olson, Mayor of Dilworth; Tim Mahoney, Mayor of Fargo; and Bernie Dardis, Mayor of West Fargo do hereby proclaim July 23-29, 2018 to be Navy Week in the Cities of Moorhead and Dilworth, Minnesota, and Fargo and West Fargo, North Dakota and call upon the citizens to observe this day with appropriate programs and activities.

  • WHEREAS, The United States Navy protects and defends America on the world’s oceans by ensuring the free flow of commerce and information on and under the sea lanes to assure the security of the United States economy and jobs at home; and

  • WHEREAS, The United States Navy is deployed around the world and around the clock, uniquely offering the capability to provide presence to prevent and deter wars; and

  • WHEREAS, The United States Navy is ready to defend America at all times through its investments in cutting-edge technology and focus on operational ingenuity and optimizing resources; and

  • WHEREAS, The United States Navy makes it possible for the Fargo-Moorhead Metro Area to export $464 million worth of merchandise overseas; and

  • WHEREAS, The USS NORTH DAKOTA (SSN-784) is a source of pride and honor for us all; and

  • WHEREAS, The USS MINNESOTA (SSN-783) is a source of pride and honor for us all; and

  • WHEREAS, The United States Navy’s Blue Angels will perform stunning aerial maneuvers as part of Navy Week; and

  • WHEREAS, Many North Dakotans and Minnesotans are serving and have served with honor and distinction over the years in the Navy and Navy Reserve; and

  • WHEREAS, The people of North Dakota and Minnesota are encouraged to join together in observation of Navy Week by becoming aware of our U.S. Navy and its ships, including our own USS NORTH DAKOTA (SSN-784) and USS MINNESOTA (SSN-783) and airplanes, including the Blue Angels, and the incredible men and women who serve in the Navy on active duty and Navy Reserve.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That We, Del Rae Williams, Mayor of Moorhead; Chad Olson, Mayor of Dilworth; Tim Mahoney, Mayor of Fargo; and Bernie Dardis, Mayor of
    West Fargo do hereby proclaim July 23-29, 2018 to be Navy Week in the Cities of Moorhead and Dilworth, Minnesota, and Fargo and West Fargo, North Dakota and call upon the citizens to observe this day with appropriate programs and activities.

  • IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have hereto set our hands and caused the Official Seals of the Cities of Moorhead and Dilworth, State of Minnesota, and Fargo and West Fargo, State of North Dakota, to be affixed to this proclamation this 23rd day of July, 2018.
