Project: 19th Avenue N
Beginning the morning of Monday, July 9, access for most businesses located on 19th Avenue North west of the 45th Street North intersection will use the old roadway alignment to enter and exit the area. Access to businesses closer to the Horse Park will be accessible by use of 57th Street North to 19th Avenue North. Motorists will use these access routes for the next month while crews continue to reconstruct the south portion of the 45th Street North intersection. Dirt work is complete from the intersection south to 16th Avenue North.
Over the next week, contractors for the City of Fargo’s 19th Avenue North road reconstruction project between 45th Street South to 57th Street North/9th Street will continue with underground work, roadway removals and start grading to prepare for paving operations of the west side mainline.
The intersection of 19th Avenue and 45th Street North and the intersection is now accessible to local thru traffic on the north side to travel to Cass County 20 and on the east side to travel to Interstate 29 (I-29) from 45th Street North. Work is slated to wrap up at the intersection in August and additional thru access will be restored to area drivers.
Access south of 19th Avenue North and 45th Street North intersection:
- 12th Avenue North to 45th Street North
- Maintained for local traffic only
Access to businesses and Horse Park on the west end of 19th Avenue North:
- 12th Avenue North to 57th Street North to 19th Avenue North
- Maintained for local traffic only
Access to businesses west of 45th Street North and 19th Avenue North intersection:
- Interstate 29 (I-29) to 19th Avenue North roadway realignment south on 45th Street North to old 19th Avenue North road
- Maintained for local traffic only
The 45th Street North crossing over the railroad tracks to prepare for a possible future railroad underpass has been completed. To finish the reconstruction and infrastructure improvement projects this fall, crews work to complete:
- West portion of 19th Avenue North between 45th Street South to 57th Street North
- New west portion of the 19th Avenue road alignment
- South portion of 45th Street North intersection from 16th Avenue North to new 19th Avenue North
The east portion of the new 19th Avenue North roadway alignment is being used by motorists with a three-way stop at the intersection of 45th Street North. This section will remain open to local traffic to access I-29 interchange during the project.
After the project is complete, the intersection of 45th Street North and 19th Avenue North will be a two-way stop with 19th Avenue North traffic having the right of way.
