This week contractors for the 13th Avenue Road Reconstruction and Infrastructure Improvement Project will begin two of the needed intermittent intersection closures on the south side of the roadway.

Starting Tuesday, July 3, crews will begin work preparing for concrete pavement on the south side of the intersection of 13th Avenue and 50th Street Southwest in Fargo. Project work is expected to last for seven days. Ahead of this closure, crews will reopen the south side of the intersection of 13th Avenue and 48th Street South to all traffic in Fargo.

Crews will also begin storm sewer work on Wednesday, July 4, on the south side of the intersection of 13th Avenue and 16th Street East in West Fargo. Project work is expected to last for two days.

During the short-term intersection closures, motorists are not allowed to turn on to the main line of 13th Avenue from the southside. Once work is completed the turning movements on to 13th Avenue from the intersections will be restored.

Crews are currently working on concrete removals in the southwest quadrant intersection of 13th Avenue and 45th Street South and will begin paving operations mid-week. During this phase of work northbound drivers on 45th Street South are unable to turn left onto 13th Avenue. Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes.

On 13th Avenue between 45th Street South in Fargo to 12th Street East in West Fargo, traffic will continue to be carried head-to-head, plus turn lanes, on the north side of the street through the work zone. All other intersections will remain open as crews continue with construction activity on the south side of the street.

Project crews will be active on phase two and the intersection improvement project at 45th Street South throughout the entire holiday week. Drivers are reminded to slow down and watch for flaggers assisting truck traffic leaving or entering the work zone.
