Beginning Monday, May 14, contractors for the Roberts Alley project will close the north portion of the alley found between Broadway North and Roberts Street from 4th Avenue North to behind Atomic Coffee building. There will be no access to the north side of the alley for parking, deliveries or pedestrian traffic during active construction.

The alley will be accessible for pedestrian traffic only on the south portion of the alley, which was improved last year. Access will be from 2nd Avenue North sidewalk.

Construction activity needed for the project work may cause construction noise from motorized saws in the late evening hours in the area. On similar alley projects in previous years, the saw noise lasted for a total of two nights throughout the project work. The evening work will follow the new concrete achieving its designed strength and make it able to hold the weight of equipment.

Businesses have been informed and will be using designated delivery locations on the side streets. The contractor will be assisting with garbage removal.

An adjacent project will start mid-May near the alley work zone. The Roberts Street reconstruction and water main project will close Roberts Street between 2nd Avenue North and 4th Avenue North to thru traffic. Pedestrian route will be maintained on the west side of the roadway. Project work is slated to be complete mid-September.
