Mayoral Proclamation - Diane Briggs Day - 01.05.2018

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim January 5, 2018 as Diane Briggs Day.

  • WHEREAS, Diane Briggs served the Fargo Public Library and the City of Fargo as a librarian since 1967; and

  • WHEREAS, Co-workers, residents, family and friends honor Diane Briggs and her achievements on her retirement; and

  • WHEREAS, Diane Briggs diligently and capably, and with substantial knowledge, experience, dedication and passion for improving the quality of life of all of Fargo’s citizens – from the very young to the oldest – through the joy of reading, the power of knowledge and the impact of sharing stories, has made a positive impact on behalf of the Fargo Public Library and the City of Fargo for more than 50 years; and

  • WHEREAS, The City of Fargo has appreciated her loyalty, devotion and dedication to the substantial betterment of the Library, the City and its citizens; and

  • WHEREAS, The lives of countless Fargo residents have been enhanced by her dedication to the mission of the Fargo Public Library to meet the lifelong learning needs of its citizens in whatever form that may take, from puppet shows, to storytimes, to historical character re-enactments, to leading computer classes, to providing opportunities for New Americans to share their cultural riches, to always being the person with an approachable smile and a listening ear for whatever question might be asked.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim January 5, 2018 as Diane Briggs Day in the City of Fargo, North Dakota and call upon her friends and associates to celebrate this special day so her work and impact will be honored and remembered.
