I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo,do hereby proclaim Thursday, October 26, 2017, as Janie Hulett Day..

  • WHEREAS, Janie Hulett, director of the Skills Development Project at the North Dakota State College of Science, Fargo, is retiring after 40 years of working in the field of employment education and workforce training; and

  • WHEREAS, Janie Hulett was fundamental in helping create the Skills Development Project and manages it with diligence, hard work and compassion; and

  • WHEREAS, Investments in job training, employment and career development have a significant positive impact on the local and national economy, tax-base and competitiveness; and

  • WHEREAS, According to Forbes Magazine, Fargo is the fourth fastest-growing small city in the United States and the No. 1 small city in the U.S. to start a business or a career; and

  • WHEREAS, Since 2002, more than 1,000 New American and low-income participants in the Skills Development Project have found professional jobs in the local workforce.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, recognize Janie Hulett and the Skills Development Project for success in improving regional and private-sector coordination, for developing a competitive workforce and expanding outreach to New Americans and low-income households in the areas of workforce development and training programs and do hereby proclaim Thursday, October 26, 2017, as Janie Hulett Day in the City of Fargo, North Dakota.
