Mayoral Proclamation - Stand Up for Transportation Day - 04.19.2015

WHEREAS, April 9, 2015 marks Stand Up for Transportation Day, a national transportation infrastructure day that highlights the importance of public and alternative forms of transportation; and

WHEREAS, Transportation connects us all; public transportation offers millions of Americans access to economic opportunities since nearly 60 percent of the trips taken on public transportation are for work commutes; and

WHEREAS, Public transportation is a proven catalyst for economic growth since for every $1 invested in public transportation, $4 in economic returns is generated locally, creating an economically vibrant and prosperous community.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, Del Rae Williams, Mayor of Moorhead; Chad Olson, Mayor of Dilworth; Timothy Mahoney, Mayor of Fargo; and Richard Mattern, Mayor of West Fargo do hereby proclaim April 9, 2015 as
Stand Up for Transportation Day in our cities and join with public transportation agencies and businesses across the country to participate in Stand Up for Transportation Day.

ALSO BE IT RESOLVED THAT MOORHEAD, DILWORTH, FARGO AND WEST FARGO declare that quality public transportation services are essential for the economic prosperity of our communities and for individuals;

ALSO BE IT RESOLVED THAT WHERE PUBLIC TRANPORATION GOES, COMMUNITY GROWS.
