Mayoral Proclamation - Garylle B. Stewart Day - 08.06.2016

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim August 6, 2016 to be Garylle B. Stewart Day.

  • WHEREAS, Garylle B. Stewart served the City of Fargo as an Assistant City Attorney and as the City Attorney for a period of 48 years—beginning with his initial appointment in 1968 and ending only upon his recent death, on August 1, 2016; and

  • WHEREAS, During said 48-year period Garylle B. Stewart diligently and capably, and with substantial legal expertise, represented the City of Fargo, including its staff members, department heads, Commissioners and Mayors on matters affecting the government of the City, its residents and taxpayers on a variety of concerns and issues, both great and small, legal and practical; and

  • WHEREAS, Garylle B. Stewart served as a member of the Liquor Control Board from 1968 to 2015, helping to draft many of the Fargo Liquor Laws; and

  • WHEREAS, The City of Fargo has appreciated his loyalty, devotion and dedication to the substantial betterment of the City and its citizens; and

  • WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Garylle B. Stewart on Monday, August 1, 2016;

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim August 6, 2016 to be Garylle B. Stewart Day in the City of Fargo, North Dakota and I call upon his friends and associates to celebrate this special day so his memory and contributions will not be forgotten.
