Off-duty Fargo firefighters are conducting their annual MDA Fill-the-Boot Campaign today through Wednesday at area Hornbacher’s stores. The campaign raises money to send children to MDA Summer Camp.

Fargo Fire along with other area first responder agencies participated in an Active Assailant exercise last week. Participating in these exercises allows all agencies to practice and understand response guidelines that direct activities in these types of incidents. The exercise was possible due to a grant from Cass/Fargo Emergency Management through the North Dakota Department of Emergency Management.

Parents and guardians are reminded to make sure student immunizations are up-to-date before school starts. An immunization walk-in clinic for K-12 students will be held at Fargo Cass Public Health on August 8th. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance company ahead of time to verify immunizations provided at FCPH are covered. Those without insurance can still receive immunizations at a reduced rate.

World Breastfeeding Week is August 1st through August 7th with the theme “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding.” Fargo Cass Public Health supports new moms with its Back to Work Mom program, which offers free classes and resources for new moms who plan to breastfeed. The next class takes place August 13th at Essentia Health.

The Police Department held a swearing-in ceremony last week for two new officers who have completed the police academy. They now start the 17-week Police Training Officer program, which helps the recruits apply the knowledge they obtained at the academy.

The Fargo PD’s Creative Services Producer, Scott Cramer, has produced a video featuring the excellent work of the Community Trust Officers and how this now includes art on the Fargo Cass Public Health/Fargo Police substation.
