The City of Fargo currently has two openings on its Human Relations Commission. Residents are encouraged to apply for appointment by visiting http://www.FargoND.gov/gettinginvolved. Applications will begin to be reviewed on June 27 and applying before that date is strongly encouraged and appreciated.

Name of Board:
Fargo Human Relations Commission

Opening(s):
Two (2) Commissioners

Meeting Logistics:
Third Thursday of every other month (except Jan.) at 12:00 p.m.

Average Time Commitment:
One to three (1-3) hours per month

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership in the areas of civil rights.
  2. Encourage and educate the public in the promotion of civil rights.
  3. Identify issues of principal concern to members of the community in the area of civil rights and to recommend priorities and objectives to the board of city commissioners.
  4. Encourage adherence to federal and state laws regarding civil rights, including Chapter 14-02.4 of the North Dakota Century Code, through education, conciliation and mediation.

In addition to these openings, residents are encouraged to research and apply for appointment to any of the boards, commissions and committees for consideration in the event of future vacancies.
