Fargo Cass Public Health Offering Walk-in Tetanus Immunization Clinics

In response to upcoming flood fighting activities, Fargo Cass Public Health advises everyone to check

03/19/2019

In response to upcoming flood fighting activities, Fargo Cass Public Health advises everyone to check the date of their most recent tetanus shot. Tetanus boosters are typically given every ten years or sooner depending on exposure. Many people were vaccinated during the 2009 flood, it may be time for an update. Why is it important to be up to date with your tetanus vaccine?

• Spores of tetanus bacteria are everywhere in the environment, including soil, dust and manure. The spores develop into bacteria when they enter the body. These spores enter the body through cuts, scratches, or wounds. Sandbag volunteers and those exposed to flood waters may be at increased risk for exposure.

• Tetanus infection can lead to serious health problems. Tetanus is fatal in about one out of ten people who are infected.

Fargo Cass Public Health will be offering walk-in tetanus immunization clinics on Tuesday, March 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday March 29th from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at 1240 25th Street S. Please bring your insurance information (most insurances will cover the cost of the vaccine). Additional clinic dates and times may be added.
