Project:Great Northern Drive Project
Today Wednesday, July 18, contractors for the City of Fargo’s Great Northern Drive project started on the phase two portion of work. Crews will be relocating storm sewer and reconstructing the roadway through this three-block stretch. During this phase there will be partial closures of Great Northern Drive from east of 18th Street North to one-block west of 21st Street North.
The initial street removals will occur in the intersection of 18th Street N and Great Northern Drive, and progress to the west. Temporary gravel access ramps will be constructed at each driveway location where the paving will be removed. Local traffic only will be allowed for access to the businesses. Through traffic will be detoured to 7th Avenue North
When construction activity begins on Great Northern Drive, the following roadway and access will change:
- CLOSED: Great Northern Drive between east of 18th Street North to one block west of 21st Street North. Through traffic will be detoured to 7th Avenue North.
- A gravel road will be constructed across the north boulevard of 8th Avenue North from 17th Street to 18th Street North to provide access to businesses along this stretch.
- Business access and local traffic only will be maintained through the work zone as construction activity allows
The project is slated to be complete by mid-October.
This project will include roadway reconstruction, water main relocation, sanitary and storm sewer relocation, new street lighting and sidewalks.
