Fargo Cass Public Health Extends Deadline for Health Officer Proposal Submission

Fargo Cass Public Health has extended the proposal deadline for the position of Health Officer to Friday, July 20, 2018

Fargo Cass Public Health has extended the proposal deadline for the position of Health Officer to Friday, July 20, 2018. The current health officer, Dr. John Baird, will retire on August 31, 2018 after serving the community for 16 years in his current position.

Dr. Baird says of his time as health officer, “I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the communities of Fargo, West Fargo and Cass County for the last 16 years. What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to build partnerships with other healthcare professionals in the area. I believe our ability to collaborate as a community has moved important initiatives forward. One such initiative is the work being done to combat the opioid epidemic in the community.” Dr. Baird has served on the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Addiction and points to the work of that collaborative as an example of success.

The health officer position also serves as health officer for West Fargo and all areas of Cass County. The health officer serves as the medical director for Fargo Cass Public Health by enforcing the public health laws, regulations, and ordinances within Fargo and Cass County relating to preservation of life and health of individuals.
