Mayoral Proclamation - Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 125th Anniversary Day - 06.16.2018

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, North Dakota, do hereby proclaim June 16, 2018 as Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 125th Anniversary Day

  • WHEREAS, Fargo Elks Lodge was founded on June 21, 1893 by 12 gentlemen and was granted a charter to hold its sessions in the city; and

  • WHEREAS, Dedicated to charity, justice and patriotism, the Fargo Elks invest thousands of hours each year to build a strong community, assist hospitalized homeless veterans, fund college scholarships, coordinate entertainment for local group homes to ensure a supportive Christmas and summer and have disbursed millions of dollars in cash, goods and services to patriotic and civic programs; and

  • WHEREAS, The Elks are steadfast in their commitment to honor and serve our nation’s military members and veterans and, for more than a century, have pledged, “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks will never forget them;” and

  • WHEREAS, In partnership with the North Dakota Elks Association, the Anne Carlsen Center and Elks Camp Grassick, the Elks help provide a three-week therapy camp for children ages 7 to 15 with various disabilities and special needs, a transition session for young adults, an adult session and, with the ND Association of the Blind, a session for anyone who is blind or visually impaired.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, North Dakota, do hereby proclaim June 16, 2018 as Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 125th Anniversary Day in the City of Fargo, North Dakota.

  • IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Fargo, North Dakota to be affixed this 16th day of June, 2018.
