Fargo Cass Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response Division Offers FREE Summer Training for Citizens


The Fargo Cass Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response Division will conduct a summer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training beginning June 6. CERT is an All-Hazard approach to train and educate citizens in case of a large or small-scale disaster. Following a major disaster, first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be able to meet the demand for these services. CERT training provides life-saving skills and techniques for people who will rely on each other for help in the time of need.

This training is FREE and open to the public. Classes will take place at Edgewood Vista, 4420 37th Ave S, Fargo, ND 58104.

Classes will be held from 1 - 3 p.m. The class schedule and topics are as follows:

June 6: Class Introduction – General Emergency Preparedness
June 13: CERT organization
June 20: Fire Safety/Extinguisher Use
June 27: Disaster Medical Operations Part 1
July 11: Disaster Medical Operations Part 2
July 18: Light Search and Rescue Operations
July 25: Unit 7 Disaster Psychology
August 1: Terrorism/Active Aggressor Options Based Response
August 8: Final Exercise
