Zone: South
Project: 25th Street & 13th Ave S Intersection Reconstruction

Beginning Wednesday, May 23, at 7 a.m. crews will start on the next section of project work near the intersection. Motorists will drive through an extended work zone as concrete pavement repair (CPR) work on 25th Street South from 13th Avenue South to 17th Avenue South begins. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction south of the intersection with left turn lanes maintained.

Traffic will initially be shifted to the outside driving lanes while crews work on the inside three lanes from 13th Avenue South to 17th Avenue South in each direction.

Crews will continue building the permanent center medians in the center of roadways surrounding the intersection as they begin CPR work south on 25th Street South.

Throughout the work zone, for drivers in all directions:

  • One driving lane with left-hand turning lanes will be open – motorists will continue to drive on the outside driving lane on their respective side
  • Median lane will be closed to traffic
  • The intersection will not fully close to traffic
  • At times certain traffic movements will be limited to right-in and right-out in the zone to help with traffic flow out of business driveways in the intersection

In CPR projects, crews remove the bad areas of the driving surface and replace the area with new concrete. Sections of the roadway will re-open to traffic once designed strength has been achieved on the new concrete. Work will be complete on the last phase of the intersection project in early August.

Project work in 2017 completed the reconstruction of the 13th Avenue and 25th Street S intersection corner by corner to improve the ride, pedestrian amenities, and safety throughout the area.

Speeds are reduced in the work zone, so drivers are reminded to slow down, eliminate distractions and pay attention to signage, as crews may be working near traffic.
