Mayoral Proclamation - Fair Housing Month - 04.01.2018

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim April 2018 as Fair Housing Month in the City of Fargo

  • WHEREAS, April 11, 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of the U.S. Fair Housing Law, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, which enunciated a national policy of fair housing without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status or disabilities and encourages fair housing opportunities for all citizens; and

  • WHEREAS, High Plains Fair Housing Center is engaged in passionately pursuing its mission to eliminate housing discrimination in North Dakota; and

  • WHEREAS, The City of Fargo supports a concerted effort toward the elimination of discrimination in housing so that all citizens will have the opportunity to live in decent, safe and affordable housing; and

  • WHEREAS, April is traditionally designated as Fair Housing Month by the President of the United States and by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim April 2018 as Fair Housing Month in the City of Fargo, North Dakota and urge all citizens to honor and abide by the letter and spirit of the U.S. Fair Housing Law.
